Independence and Accountability Lex & 3rd Unity Project (L3UP) is a legally distinct nonprofit organization with its own independent Board of Directors and financial oversight. While L3UP was born from the community spirit of the Lex & 3rd Block Association (L3BA), it operates as a separate entity dedicated to the broader revitalization of East Harlem.

Our Partnership with L3BA L3UP serves as the professional coordinating partner for neighborhood initiatives, including those led by L3BA. This partnership allows for a clear division of labor:

• L3BA continues its vital work as a grassroots volunteer group, focusing on community outreach and local engagement.

• L3UP provides the administrative backbone, securing and managing grants, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing project execution.

Compliance and Transparency L3UP is committed to the highest standards of nonprofit governance. We maintain separate financial records and distinct board leadership to avoid conflicts of interest. Our leadership team is dedicated to transparent reporting and ensuring that all resources are used exclusively for the charitable and educational benefit of the East Harlem community.
